Certifications + Standards
Quality and craftsmanship set Coyuchi apart - but it’s our ceaseless quest to bring the most natural, sustainable goods into your home that drives us to innovate and improve the standards for what an organic home can be. We are constantly researching the newest, most innovative processes and products to be sure that Coyuchi goods are safe for the home, and safe for the Earth and those who rely on it.
GOTS
Organic is only the first step. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the top certification for ecologically and socially responsible practices throughout every step in the supply chain of textiles. It adheres to a strict set of rules ensuring the welfare of the materials, the environment, and the working conditions of the human hands involved along the way. This means that, yes, it's at least 95% organic fiber, but it's also free of a long list of chemicals that may be harmful to you, the planet, or the person producing it.

Fair Trade
Fair Trade Certified™ partners provide traceable and transparent supply chains, and ensure sustainable livelihoods to the people who create Coyuchi products. These initiatives strive to implement income equality, community and individual well-being, empowerment, and environmental stewardship for farmers and working communities. In addition to choosing Fair Trade suppliers, Coyuchi also elects to pay an additional cost for every Fair Trade Certified™ product made (the Fair Trade premium), which deposits into a worker-managed Community Development Fund.

MADE SAFE
The MADE SAFE® seal confirms that a household product is free of any and all toxins known or suspected to harm human health, animals, or ecosystems. Certified goods have been thoroughly examined by researchers and scientists to ensure they’re made without known behavioral toxins, carcinogens, developmental toxins, endocrine disruptors, flame retardants, heavy metals, neurotoxins, high risk pesticides, reproductive toxins, toxic solvents, or harmful VOCs. MADE SAFE® additionally screens ingredients for bioaccumulation, environmental persistence, general ecosystem harm, as well as for toxicity to aquatic and terrestrial life. When there is doubt they exercise the precautionary principle, erring on the side of caution. The MADE SAFE® approach flips the current regulatory model of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ on its head. This 360-degree ecosystem assessment makes MADE SAFE® the most rigorous standard in existence.

Climate Beneficial™
Fibershed works to close the loop of fiber manufacturing by decentralizing the textile supply chain and supporting regional farms and ranches. They’re bringing the “local” movement to the textile industry by developing regional and regenerative fiber systems on behalf of independent producers, and helping farmers implement carbon farming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions—like The Jensen Ranch and Stemple Creek Ranch from which our Climate Beneficial™ Wool collection is sourced. Through strategic grazing, conservation tillage, and a host of scientifically vetted soil carbon enhancing practices, their supply chains are working to create Climate Beneficial™ fibers that set new standards in a world looking to rapidly mitigate the effects of climate change.

GOLS
The Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) ensures that all certified latex products are not only natural and at least 95% organic in origin, but that they follow a traceable path of environmentally and ethically sound practices from beginning to end. Starting at the farm and continuing all the way throughout processing, handling, packing, and labelling, extensive records are kept at each stop in the supply chain and are subject to annual audits by an independent third party. GOLS requirements include strict regulations for the management of waste and pollution, energy and water conservation efforts, health and safety at all certified locations, and requires that all staff receive a competitive living wage. And at the end of the creation process, GOLS even requires that any additional material used — like our organic pillowcases — must be GOTS-certified. It’s one more way we hold our partners, and ourselves, accountable.
